1Genesis Chapter 6 and 7 John Karmelich 1. In Chapter 6, we begin the story of Noah. a) Most people know this story from their childhood. 2. My theme for studying genesis is on the question of why . a) For example, why did God destroy everybody except for eight people? i) Why did God use this method (a flood) to destroy the earth? b) Why is this story relevant to our live today? c) For answers to these questions, stay tuned to this lesson. J 3. The reason I choose the why questions in this commentary is that there are lots of good books and commentaries out there on how the flood happen. a) I happen to hold a very literal-view of a worldwide flood. b) If you happen to believe it was just a local phenomenon or a fable, I would encourage you to read or listen to some of the scientific geological arguments for a worldwide flood.
