The pregnancy rates have declined 43% from a high in 1993, yet they are still unacceptably high with out of every 1000, 15 to 19-year-old females becoming pregnant each year. The racial and ethnic disparities in adolescent sexual health outcomes remain a critical issue with pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease (STD) rates consistently almost three times higher for black and Hispanic teens than for white teens.
