Subsequent disturbance may stimulate full or partial recovery and re-growth. Dormancy is a natural characteristic of the plant in response to burial, drought, etc. but may also be induced by some herbicide treatments. Dormancy may end naturally over time, but any soil/rhizome disturbance will increase the likelihood of early re-growth.
