These cavity nesting ducks have claws and feet capable of perching and nesting in trees, and include Wood Duck, Bufflehead, Common & Barrow's Goldeneye, and Common & Hooded Merganser. Cavity nesting ducks cannot excavate their own tree holes, which means they are totally dependant on large natural holes in trees or holes made by other birds and animals.
