FDNY Fire Operations response on September 11

The Battalion Chief assigned to Battalion 1 (B1) 10 witnessed the impact of the plane from the corner of Church and Lispenard Streets. He i mmediately signaled a second alarm11 and proceeded to the World Trade Center. En route, B1 requested additional resources by transmitting a third alarm at 8:48 a.m.
