Does your State allow persons licensed in other medical fields ( nursing , PAs, dentists and/or veterinarians) to either receive reciprocity for or test out as an EMT or Paramedic ( without attending an EMT or Paramedic training program?) Arkansas NO. We do have a transition course for RN to EMT course. It is approximately 96 hours compared to the regular 176 hour course. We eliminate 24 hours ER time, 56 hours didactic (lecture & lab). Connecticut licensed healthcare providers RNs, MDs, DOs, PA-Cs may "Test out" after they can prove competence (class attendance - typically) of Spinal Immobilization, MCI management, and triage.
