The bovine corneal opacity and Permeability (BCOP) test method was evaluated by the 10 Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM), in 11 conjunction with the European Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods (ECVAM) and the 12 Japanese Center for the Validation of Alternative Methods (JaCVAM), in 2006 and 2010 (1)(2). In the 13 first evaluation, the BCOP test method was evaluated for its usefulness to identify chemicals 14 (substances and mixtures) inducing serious eye damage (1).
