A case study from the Western Australian mining environment will show how this uncommon motor starting method was adopted and put to use to reduce costs while maintaining suitable system conditions. The concepts and methods employed are given and the outcomes of commissioning the system are summarised. Additionally general information on motor starting methods is provided for reference.
