ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT 257 ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT PLAN (EMP) INTRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT Plan is required for ensuring sustainable development. It should not affect the surrounding ENVIRONMENT adversely. The MANAGEMENT plan presented in this chapter needs to be implemented by the proposed expansion of sugar and co-gen unit. The ENVIRONMENT MANAGEMENT Plan aims at controlling pollution at source with available and affordable technology followed by treatment measures. Waste minimization and waste recycling measures are emphasized. In addition to the Industry specific control measures, the proposed industry should adopt following guidelines. They are: Application of Low and Non Waste Technology in the production process; Adoption of reuse and recycling technologies to reduce generation of wastes and to optimize the production cost of the industry.
