Zaman and Asif Husain* Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Jamia Hamdard (Hamdard University), New Delhi -110062, India. _____ ABSTRACT Adapalene, a Third Generation retinoid, is used to treat mild to severe acne. It is useful as monotherapy, or in combination with benzoyl peroxide. Adapalene is available in the market under the trade names Differin and Adaferin. It is also available in combination formulation with clindamycin to achieve better results. Adapalene may be an important target for pharmaceutical industries. The present work reviews the biological and pharmaceutical profile of Adapalene.
