FIRE CALL Spring 2017 Office of theState Fire MarshalThe OSFM has received feedback from several sources in the Illinois fire Service that details about the changes to the OSFM certification examination process have not been received by members. The OSFM recognizes the importance of keeping the fire Service updated as to changes in any of our processes. In the future we will be making a concerted effort to maximize communications about the progress of our changes to the Division of Personal Standards and Education, starting with the update below: The Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM) is mandated by the legislature to implement and administer a voluntary state certification program designed to assist Illinois firefighters with achieving recognized firefighter training standards and competencies. Approved training facilities provide instruction to prepare students to master these standards and competencies.
