Preview this section of the unit with students by going through the NERVOUS SYSTEM section of their unit organizer or instruct them to do it individually. 2. Provide students 15 minutes to complete Sensible Writing (Student Handout).

Use a reflex hammer to test the knee jerk response OR use the back of your hand and a swift, firm hit under the patella. Have students note the response.
