Invasive blood pressuremonitoring has been utilized in critically ill patients, in both theoperating room and critical care units, to facilitate rapid diagnoses ofcardiovascular insufficiency and monitor response to treatmentsaimed at correcting abnormalities before the consequences of eitherhypo- or hypertension are seen.
