1 Bangladesh Payment and Settlement System Regulation, 2013 With a view to promote, regulate and ensure a secure and efficient Payment System in Bangladesh in terms of Article 7 A (e) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972 [and in conformity with Article 38 of the National Payment System Act], the Board of Directors of the Bangladesh Bank is pleased to make the following regulation, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 82(1) and 82(2) (k) of the Bangladesh Bank Order 1972. 1 Short Title and Commencement 1) This Regulation shall be called Bangladesh Payment and Settlement System Regulation, 2013. 2) This Regulation shall come into force with immediate effect and supersede Bangladesh Payment and Settlement System Regulation, 2009. 2 The Objectives of the regulations The objectives of these regulations shall be: (a) to regulate, and supervise Payment systems that operate in Bangladesh , including cross border transactional activities in Bangladesh that affect its currency; (b) to regulate the transfer and movement of funds in Bangladesh Taka within Bangladesh and cross-border transfers which are also subject to the Foreign Exchange Regulation Act 1
