The report aims to inform the discussion on Birth defects , including definition, epidemiology, burden of disease and interventions for prevention and care, as well as indications of how these interventions might be integrated into existing health services. An earlier version of this report was considered by the Executive Board at its 126th session,1 following which the Board adopted resolution DEFINITION 2. The International statistical classification of diseases and related health problems, tenth revision (ICD-10), includes Birth defects in Chapter XVII: Congenital malformations, deformations and chromosomal abnormalities.
