CAR-A-TOW - Nearly 29 years and more than 14000 Towing Frames sold and fitted After more than 5 years of confusion and misunderstanding on the subject of the effect of the November 2014 Regulations on the use of Towing Frames, we are very happy to report that both the UK Department for Transport and the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (VOSA), have issued assurances to us all that Towing Frames / A-Frames in general are accepted and not affected by these new regulations. The DfT have clearly stated that a Towing Frame is NOT subject to type approval and is therefore NOT affected by the new vehicle / trailer regulations which came into force on 1st November 2014. The DVSA (Vosa) have clearly stated that as long as the brakes work and the car can be reversed without operating a manual mechanism, they are also happy. There are bound to be those amongst us who will still consider this to be a GREY AREA if so, for heaven s sake, what more do they need to be convinced ?
