Changing patterns of work Introduction patterns of working time have always been subject to change but the pace of change is now more rapid than ever. The driving force for this change comes from both organisations who want to change the way their employees' work is organised to better suit their business needs and from individuals who want to achieve a better balance between work and home life. The Government is committed to helping make flexible working an option for all workers but in particular those with young children.
