ZUBER P. MA OSZEWSKI INTRODUCTION A comprehensive description of the Lumped - parameter models applicable to the interpretation of environmental tracers in groundwater systems is given. It will be shown that the Lumped - parameter models are particularly useful for interpreting the tracer data which were obtained at separate sampling sites, when it is neither possible, nor justified, to use distributed- parameter models , as the latter require more detailed knowledge of the investigated system, which is often unavailable. A more detailed description of the approach and a number of examples can be found in Ma oszewski and Zuber (1996) and in other references given further.
