CHAPTER 10 MEANS OF EGRESS SECTION 1001 ADMINISTRATION General. Buildings or portions thereof shall be pro-vided with a MEANS of EGRESS system as required by this CHAPTER . The provisions of this CHAPTER shall control the design, con-struction and arrangement of MEANS of EGRESS co1nponents re-quired to provide an approved MEANS of EGRESS from structures and portions thereof. It shall be unlawful to alter a building or structure in a manner that will reduce the number of exits or the capacity of the tneans of EGRESS to less than required by this code. [F] Maintenance.
