Chapter 2 Load Flow IntroductionLoad flow Analysis is the most important and essential approach to investigatingproblems in power system operating and planning. Based on a specified generatingstate and transmission network structure, load flow Analysis solves the steadyoperation state with node voltages and branch power flow in the power flow Analysis can provide a balanced steady operation state of the powersystem, without considering system transient processes. Hence, the mathematicmodel of load flow problem is a nonlinear algebraic equation system withoutdifferential equations. Power system dynamic Analysis (see Chaps. 5 and 6) inves-tigates system stability under some given disturbances. Its mathematic modelincludes differential equations. It should be pointed out that dynamic Analysis isbased on load flow Analysis and the algorithm of load flow Analysis is also the basefor dynamic Analysis methods.
