CHAPTER 3 Preparing the Record on Appeal

06/08/16 3 - 1 1 CHAPTER 3 Preparing the Record on Appeal After filing the Notice of Appeal , the appellant next needs to pick out what items are to be in the Record on Appeal . This is called "designating the Record " and must be done in every case. The Record in an Appeal is the official account of what went on at the hearing or the trial that is being appealed. A party designates the Record by listing what items to include in a Notice Designating Record on Appeal form (Sample Form F). This notice must be served and filed at the superior court within 10 days of the filing of the Notice of Appeal (CRC rule ).

Make a list of the dates (and whether it was a full or partial day), departments, nature of proceedings, and names of the court reporters for each day or partial day that is to be typed up (transcribed). Check the box to show whether a certified transcript was previously prepared.
