Recent developments in SURVEYING technology have made many methods obsolete. In general, it is assumed that the surveyor is using total stations, data collectors, GNSS equipment, network real time kinematic (RTK), data reduction software, and a computer aided drafting system.

3.3.3.2 RTK METHOD WITH A BASE STATION TDOT control points should be located on the job and the base should be setup on one of the control points (preferably one that has the best visibility of the sky and is located in a relatively safe place). The surveyor should try to prevent the base from being disturbed or being an obstruction to traffic.
