THE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT PROCESS Introduction This CHAPTER describes the key stages in the ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (EIA) process, including the principles of EIA, and the approach taken to identify baseline conditions and to evaluate the potential ENVIRONMENTAL impacts and effects associated with construction and operation of the proposed Aberdeen Harbour Expansion Project.

Directives requires developers of qualifying projects to submit relevant information within an Environmental Statement (ES) and supporting documents. In order to streamline the application and assessment process, all applications, encompassing both marine and terrestrial works, will be assessed under a single EIA.
