Skilled nursing facilities are required to transmit additional MDS assessments for all Medicare beneficiaries in a Part A stay reimbursable under the SNF PPS. Transmitting MDS Data Every State agency is equipped with the standardized computer hardware and data management software system to electronically receive MDS data from all Medicare and Medicaid nursing facilities.
