Much of this ability will come with practice, but it starts here, by studying comparative dental Anatomy and becoming familiar with the language of dentistry. This is but a brief introduction. I had wanted to write this as two separate chapters, but the two subjects are so intimately intertwined that I could not discuss one without discussing the other.
