01/01/22 M1 Chapter M Fees Passenger: Passenger registration fees are based on the combined miles-per-gallon (MPG) rating determined by DMV s vehicle identification number (VIN) decoding software. Dealers can also provide the combined MPG rating to DMV for vehicles on the Application for Title and Registration, Form 226. Passenger vehicles are eligible for 2 or 4-year registration. The following chart shows the passenger registration fee information based on the MPG rating. REGISTRATION FEE CHART BASED ON MPG AND vehicle TYPE General fee information The correct fee to collect for any transaction depends on the type of vehicle and the type of transaction.
