Short title and commencement. SCHEDULE-Enactments repealed. 5 & 6 ELiz. 2 Cheques Act, 1957 Cs. 36 CHAPTER 36 An Act to amend the law relating to Cheques and certain other instruments. [17th July, 1957] B E it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- (1) Where a banker in good faith and in the ordinary course protection of business pays a cheque drawn on him which is not indorsed or of bankers is irregularly indorsed, he does not, in doing so, incur any liability paying by reason.
