Monson, 10/01/06 2 Cognitive Processing Therapy : Veteran/Military Version Part 1 introduction to Cognitive Processing Therapy Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a 12-session Therapy that has been found effective for both PTSD and other corollary symptoms following traumatic events (Monson et al, 2006; Resick et al, 2002; Resick & Schnicke, 1992, 19931). Although the research on CPT focused on rape victims originally, we have used the Therapy successfully with a range of other traumatic events, including military-related traumas.
