Commentary ( sermon notes ) Romans Chapter 8 Matthew Janzen What the Law Could Not Do Romans 8 - Pt .1 Text: Romans 8:1-8 I. Introduction A. What we are going to do today is begin to walk through some chapters in the book of Romans . B. We will encounter themes in these chapters; themes like faith, grace, law, spirit, flesh, predestination, Israel, the Gentiles, and so on. C. To begin with I want you to know that Paul wrote this epistle (according to Romans 1:1) to the saints who were dwelling in Rome - those people who believed in the only true God and had placed their faith in His Son Yeshua. This is why Paul begins his letter in Romans 1:7 saying "Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.
