During theexam, a small tube is inserted a short distanceinto the rectum to allow for inflation with gaswhile CT images of the colon and the rectumare to your exam, your doctor may restrictyou to clear fluids on the day before the CTand give you instructions on clearing yourbowels. Tell your doctor if there s apossibility you are pregnant and discuss anyrecent illnesses, medical conditions,medications you re taking, and allergies. You will be instructed not to eat or drink anything for a fewhours beforehand. If you have a known allergy to contrast material, your doctor may prescribemedications to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction.
