Darke county , ohio Marriage Consents December 1, 1845 April 8, 1850 1 Until 1851 the records of what is now the Probate Court were all under the authority of the Clerk of Common Pleas Court. Although the law for the division of the Common Pleas was passed in 1851 it was not implemented until 1852, when the division of the Clerk of Court of the Common Pleas Records was made and the Probate Court was formed. With this division, the wills, estates, guardianships, marriages were then found under the authority of the Probate Court, with the Common Pleas retaining all divorces, court minutes, chancery, partition and a few higher (Supreme), etc. records. The following Marriage Consents were found in File Box L in the Clerk of the Common Pleas office, probably never having been removed to the Probate Court. Since many of these record pre-date the 1850 census, they do furnish important genealogical data.
