1 Design and Verification of a Processor Using vhdl , verilog , systemc , and C++ Dr. Greg Tumbush, Starkey Labs, Colorado Springs, CO Bill Dittenhofer, Starkey Labs, Colorado Springs, CO Introduction The Processor designed at Starkey Labs was a general-purpose, n-bit, pipelined, programmable digital signal Processor (DSP) targeted for low-power applications, such as hearing aids. The individual strengths of systemc , C++, verilog , and vhdl were utilized in the Design and Verification of this DSP. A systemc model of the DSP was developed to examine architectural trade-offs and serve as a Verification vehicle.
