This value is determined by reading the apparent weight of a presoaked wood sample while it is immersed in water. Inaccurate readings occur when the amount of water displaced by the sample is affected by extraneous factors. Chief umong these are the presence of water or air bubbles on chip surfaces as well as air voids within the ch@s, which can absorb water during the procedure.
