Developing Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) The Role of RPL In the Context of the National Skills Strategy Upskilling Objectives April 2011 Developing Recognition of Prior Learning 1 April 2011 Foreword Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is of considerable interest to the Expert Group on Future Skills Needs in the context of monitoring progress on the National Skills Strategy. RPL has also been recommended in EGFSN sectoral reports such as the Wholesale and Retail sector as a mechanism to assist in upskilling staff within enterprises and in delivering education and training more effectively.
