Introduction An aerosol propellant is defined as an essentially non-toxic material capable of exerting pressure in a sealed container at ambient temperatures. The two basic classes of aerosol propellant include the compressed gas propellants (carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and nitrogen) and the liquefied gas propellants (hydrocarbons, fluorocarbons, and ethers).
