ELECTROMAGNETIC TESTING TECHNIQUES FOR QUALITY GRADING OF NONFERROUS ROD AND WIRE John Markanich, Product Engineer Foerster Instruments, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA INTRODUCTION: ELECTROMAGNETIC nondestructive inspection is widely used as a technique for grading the quality of nonferrous rod and wire. The inspection is performed without disruption to the manufacturing process. The two individual inspections of eddy current flaw detection and ferrous inclusion detection are performed with a single non-contact encircling coil.
