NIGERIA Supplement to Official Gazette Extraordinary No. 73 Vol 79, 31st December, 1992-Part A A979 ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT DECREE 1992 Decree No. 86 [10th December 1992] THE FEDERAL MILITARY GOVERNMENT hereby decrees as follows: Commencement. PART I - GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT 1. The objectives of any ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (hereafter in this Decree referred to as "the ASSESSMENT ") shall be- Goals and objectives of the ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (a) to establish before a decision taken by any person, authority, corporate body or unincorporated body including the Government of the Federation, State or Local Government intending to undertake or authorize the undertaking of any activity that may likely or to a significant extent effect the environment or have ENVIRONMENTAL effects on those activities shall first be taken into account.
