An analysis of data on oil consumption performed by a lubricant supplier indicated a range of average daily stern tube lubricant consumption rates for different vessels (Etkin, 2010). The average rate across vessel types was 2.6 liters per day, but ranged from less than 1 liter per day to 20 liters per day.
