Fingerprints 20-1 Chapter 20 Fingerprints Fingerprint evidence remains the most positive means of personalidentification in forensics, to date. Though often compared with othermodern innovations such as DNA, fingerprint evidence results in positiveidentifications whereas other evidence does not. Fingerprint evidence canalso distinguish between identical twins. Identifications can be effectedfrom Fingerprints made in a victim's blood, paint, or other contaminants,which no other form of evidence can accomplish. There should not becompetition between fingerprint evidence and other innovations becauseall should work hand in hand to solve identification questions.
