It must be able to withstand the onslaught of a fire and prevent further fire spread by containing it to one side of the wall until the fire burns itself out, or is most stringent provisions in our Building Codes with regard to structural stability and fire performance apply to Firewalls . Firewalls must be suitably designed and constructed to function as a barrier against the spread of fire and smoke.
