Some Metatheory A traditional view of the MEANING of life was that life has MEANING when it is lived in the service of some greater cause. Call this Teleologism. According to this view, the MEANING of life is the purpose of life , and each person has a certain role to play in the achievement of that purpose. Living a MEANINGFUL life is fulfilling that role, whether it be converting the heathens, or washing the dishes of those who convert the heathens.
