GLASS-MAKING the last season several important glass -manufacturing districts Tiave been visited (by Survey geologists, and careful investigation lias been made of the glass sands and other .raw materials used in the manufacture of this produc i. The results of this work are sum- marized in the following three reports:THE REQUIREMENTS OF SAND AND LIMESTONE FOR EKNEST F. data for the following paper were derived from a brief study of the glass saids of the middle Mississippi basin. glass manufacture admits of such slight variations in the character of its raw materials that the materials used from the Central States are rgarded as representing very fairly the grade demanded for the industry at large.
