The development of knowledge products is a powerful tool for learning, capacity development and performance purpose of this project is to identify, source and document good PRACTICES on cemetery MANAGEMENT from municipalities and partner organisations in South Africa. Further, this publication is intended to provide guidance to municipalities on good PRACTICES in cemetery MANAGEMENT by sharing local and international examples, and combining existing good practice and other background information with a series of informative learnings and recommendations that are presented in this publication incorporate previous SALGA research findings and interviews conducted with cemetery managers from metro municipalities.
Metro Municipality, City of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni Metro Municipality and Mangaung Metro Municipality for their information and feedback, the content of which has been integrated into this document. We also acknowledge municipalities who have contributed, and academic Tsepang Leuta, who does cemetery research.
