Environment and Forest (MoEF) promulgated Hazardous Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 1989, under the provision of the Environment Protecon Act, 1986. In September 2008 the said rules were amended and new rules entled “Hazardous waste (Management, Handling and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2008” were promulgated.
