Believing that lumber dealers took advantage of his com-pany s need for high quality hardwood by price gouging, Henry ford acquired his own lumber sources, which led himto Baraga County where he acquired the milling communityof pequaming and founded Alberta. ford started his quest for lumber by sending EdwardKingsford in search of large tracts of forest in the UpperPeninsula.
