I had to reach the car before Josh found me. If I could touch it, I d win the game. I could hear Josh s footsteps just a few feet away from me. If I made any noise at all, he d find me. I d be out of the game. I can hear you, Sandy, and I m going to find you, I heard Josh holler. As I snaked away from Josh, I made a wrong turn. A solid wall of rock blocked my way. Quickly, I slid along the wall. There had to be a way around it somewhere. Or maybe there was a way through it. Off to my left, I could barely make out a dark line on the rock. I inched over to it, hoping it was a crack that I could hide in. Josh would never find me there. I d wait for him to pass, and then I d dash for the car before he could find me. I slithered over to the line.
