The Scheme explains how HSE plans to meet its statutory duties to promote Equality for all groups in society. As the national regulatory body responsible for promoting better health and safety at work within Great Britain, (in close partnership with Local Authorities), we are committed to ensuring our policies and employment practices are fair, accessible and appropriate for the diverse society we serve and the workforce we employ. This document brings together and strengthens the work we have done on Equality over the last three years. We have made substantial progress towards improving how we include Equality and diversity in the policymaking processes within HSE, but we still need to ensure that we fully understand the Equality issues for our work will make sure this is addressed as part of our planning regarding the delivery of our new Strategy which was launched on 3 June 2009.
