Immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA, IgM). General Information IgA: raised in elderly, chronic infection, cirrhotic liver disease. IgM: raised primary biliary cirrhosis, acute infection, EBV, CMV, TB. Marked polyclonal IgG elevation is seen in HIV, Sj gren's, Sarcoidosis. Less marked elevation in chronic inflammatory and infective conditions Specimens required: At room temperature Repeat frequency: Not within six months Except for monitoring myeloma and immunodeficiency Special precautions: Laboratory information Normal Reference Volume and Sample type Method Turnaround time Range (working days). Age and gender 7ml clotted blood Nephelometry 9 days specific Age and gender specific reference ranges for total serum IgG, IgA and IgM.
