SPECIFICATIONS AND MODEL SELECTIONA. stucki Company manufactures three metal-capped resilient sidebearing models designed to control truck hunting of freight cars havingconventional 3-piece trucks. The primary difference between themodels is the preload compression force provided by the resilientelements at the nominal 5-1/16 operating height, and the non-interchangeability features incorporated to meet requirements of AARS pecification M-948. Selection of the appropriate model is based uponthe empty weight of the car body (less trucks). Specification M-948limits total side bearing preload to no greater than 85% of the empty carbody weight. The following table provides a guide for proper modelselection for stand-alone cars (consult A.)
