Introduction to Ethics In the world today, we are in the throes of a giant ethical leap that is essen-tially embracing all of humankind (Donahue, 1996, p. 484). Scientific andtechnological advances, economic realities, pluralistic worldviews, and globalcommunication make it difficult for nurses to ignore the important ethicalissues in the world community, their everyday lives, and their work.
